News
on the struggle against the CIIT in Mexico
We publish an unofficial translation from the weekly news report of the Mexican news site
Sol Rojo.
To the most recent attempts at
military intervention by Yankee imperialism in Mexico with the discourse of ”
combating drugs”, is added the announced visit to Oaxaca by the reactionaries
John Kerry and Ken Salazar, special envoy on climate change and US ambassador
to Mexico, respectively. This visit, scheduled for March 21 (on the occasion of
the birthday of Benito Juarez), seeks to “supervise” the advances in the
imposition of the Tehuantepec Isthmus Interoceanic Corridor (CIIT), where the
“most recent achievements of AMLO and the 4T” are the militarization of the
region, the state of siege imposed against Ajyuuk peasants and communal
farmers, the criminalization and arrest warrants against Binniza’ community
members of Puente Madera, and the persecution, terror and threats against
Binniza’ community members of Santa Cruz Tagolaba in Tehuantepec. The clamp
formed between the Secretary of the Navy, National Guard, State Agency of
Investigations, State Police and paramilitary groups like that of the mercenary
“Tacho Canasta” seek to bend the iron will of poor and indigenous peasants
organized around the Union of Indigenous Communities of the Northern Zone of
the Isthmus (UCIZONI), the Assembly of Indigenous Peoples of the Isthmus in
Defense of Land and Territory (APIIDTT) and the Red Sun People’s Current
(“CP-Sol Rojo”). In solidarity with this resistance struggle against the
imposition of the CIIT and in repudiation of the visit (interference) of Yankee
imperialism in the Isthmus, various democratic organizations and collectives
are calling for the realization of the Festival for Life and in Solidarity with
the Peoples of the Isthmus; the date is March 21, 2023 at the gringo embassy in
Mexico City. Territorial actions are also expected on the part of the affected
communities that reject the CIIT and the declarations of the new military
intervention in our country.
