On November 9th, news broke of an armed confrontation between the EPL guerrilla forces and the armed forces and police of the old state. The guerrilla forces were led by Comrade Laura, who in 2012 gave an interview that we published in March 2017 as "Conversation with Comrade Laura at the Vzcatan Mountain Base," part of a study (VIZCATAN) that she herself presented. From this study, we extract the following quotes, which express her class position and her firm commitment:
"The blood shed by our heroes will not be in vain. The armed revolution is already bearing fruit. History will record it as the price the revolution demands, and the life of a communist belongs entirely to the Party. The hour of triumph is not far off. Let us transform our tears and pain into a fervent cry of war, since the oppressors cannot boast of their perpetuation on the face of the earth. Their hour has arrived, and we call for this heroic undertaking, for only with the rifle can the world be transformed.
The Communist Party of Peru, Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, Gonzalo Thought, the Party of the working class, is the standard-bearer of our revolution, the heroic combatant that will lead us to the inevitable final triumph over the oppressors, the conquest of power throughout Peru, and our unwavering goal: communism.
“Workers of the world, unite!” Armed with your invincible and all-powerful ideology, Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, Gonzalo Thought, forming or reconstituting Communist Parties, we, your communist children, will not fail you. Tested in a thousand battles, offering our blood and our lives, we must fulfill our duty so that the unfading light of communism may shine upon the earth. The path of people's war is open; the peoples of the world must travel it: workers, peasants, the petty bourgeoisie, and even the national bourgeoisie. One path only: people's war. One single objective, the People's Republic; one single, unwavering goal, communism.

We reiterate, once again, our firm commitment to give our lives alongside the masses who are creating all that is new and to fight to the last drop of blood in defense of the Party and the revolution. We hereby proclaim our decision to fight as children of the Party, children of the revolution, and, with great pride, children of Chairman Gonzalo." Below the photos, we published the news from the reactionary press documenting how Comrade Laura fulfills "our duty so that the unfading light of communism may shine upon the earth."

Ayacucho: Three injured in clash between security forces and Shining Path in the VRAEM

Military and police forces clashed with insurgents known by the aliases “Anselmo,” “Cenia,” “Laura,” and “Maruja.”
A clash between patrols of the Peruvian Army and the National Police of Peru (PNP) against remnants of the Shining Path terrorist organization occurred on Saturday in the district of Pucacolpa, Huanta province, Ayacucho region. In a statement, the VRAEM Special Command indicated that the incident occurred during an operation carried out in coordination with the Directorate Against Terrorism (DIRCOTE) and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The military unit reported that, as a result of the clash with insurgents known by the aliases "Anselmo," "Cenia," "Laura," and "Maruja," three members of the security forces sustained minor injuries.
The injured received medical attention and their condition is stable, the unit stated.
