Norway: Celebration of the 100th anniversary of the NKP

Last Saturday, the 4th of November, marked the 100-year anniversary of the Communist Party of Norway (NKP). The Norwegian news site TFM reports on multiple events which took place on the anniversary, with communists and revolutionaries from Norway as well as other countries participating.
The event starting the day was a seminar on the history of the Communist Party of Norway and the necessity of its reconstitution, as a Maoist and militarized Communist Party. There was also greetings presented at the seminar, including from the International Communist League – ICL.

Later in the day there was a demonstration under the slogan “NKP 100 Years – Reconstitute the Communist Party of Norway”. The demonstration marched to a monument dedicated to the 23 members of the Central Committee of the NKP who fell in the struggle against fascism during the Second World War. Participants carried red banners with the hammer and sickle, the banner of the International Communist League in several languages, as well as the flag of Palestine. Together with the beating of drums, slogans such as “Reconstitute the NKP!”, “Death to Imperialism, People’s War until Communism!”, “Long live the ICL!”, as well as “Long live Palestine!” were shouted.
Arriving at the memorial, the participants lined up in front of it, holding torches. A ribbon was placed on the monument and several speeches were held in commemoration for the martyrs and in greeting of the 100-year anniversary of the Party, as well as a speech in support of the Palestinian National Liberation Struggle.
At the end of the day a celebratory dinner was held. There were several more speeches and greetings, as well as as cultural performances, singing and dancing.
