La Cause du Peuple: Our comrade is free!
The pro-Palestinian comrade detained has been released, reports the French newspaper La Cause du Peuple. We hereby share an unofficial translation of the note published by this newspaper.
This Tuesday evening was reported the arrest of a pro-Palestinian activist in Paris, arrested by a dozen police officers just after he went out of his plane after returning from a trip. His only crime had been to openly support the resistance of the Palestinian people and to condemn the ongoing genocide, particularly during the demonstration for the liberation of Georges Abdallah organized on February 8 in Paris.
Within 48 hours, a wave of Zionist denunciations circulated on social media following the release of video excerpts from an intervention, with the police prefect of Paris announcing the opening of a repression process against him.
The next day, nearly 24 hours after the arrest, it was announced in a series of statements that “neither his lawyers nor his comrades have any news about him.” Spontaneous mobilizations were therefore hastily organized in front of dozens of town halls, prefectures and police stations. This afternoon, after holding him for nearly 48 hours, the activist was finally released thanks to significant mobilization across the country.
In a poster shared on social media, more than thirty organizations celebrate his release “until his trial.” Charged with “apology for terrorism,” he will be tried on May 15. The organizations are therefore calling to “continue the combat.”
